SRU St. Jude Up ‘til 2 became an official club on campus in 2012. Since then, students on the executive board host what used to be called “Up ‘til Dawn” but is now known as “Up ‘til 2” (UT2) event in the ARC. The purpose of UT2 is to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. UT2 makes raising money more fun by having an event open to all SRU students which includes games, music, special performances, pizza and more. To participate in the event, each individual must raise $50, which is then donated to St. Jude. There are also multiple other fundraising events leading up to UT2 like spaghetti dinners, no more cancer rallies, jailbreak, raffles and more.

I will utilize data visualization by showing how much money has been raised for St. Jude thanks to SRU UT2 from 2016 - 2020. I will also compare the organization’s goal with how much was actually raised to determine an increase or decrease in donations. This will show whether the club is gaining popularity or should reconsider some of its current fundraising/event ideas. I will interview a member of the SRU UT2 executive board, Maddy Buchanan. She is the event and logistics director, which means she plans the event.

The next SRU UT2 is on Friday, February 7, 2020. This club stands out from the rest because it highlights the importance of giving back to those in need. The data visualization graph will show how much of a positive impact SRU can have on families and children from across the country. I have participated in SRU UT2 every year that I have been here and it is something everyone should experience.
