Dr. Adelaida Cortijo

Dr. Cortijo is the Chairperson of the Modern Languages Department at SRU. She has been teaching Spanish here since 2006. Prior to teaching, or even living in the United States, she lived in Spain. Leaving your home country to become a citizen of a new country is never easy. Her culture, native language, food, clothes and almost anything else you can think of was different in Spain than it is in America. During her interview, she will discuss why she made the decision to move, what her biggest challenges were and any additional information/stories she has in mind. She is also taking a sabbatical next year to visit and study in Spain. Her life is very interesting and she has been through things that most of the class could never imagine. The class will learn valuable life lessons and other fascinating information from Dr. Cortijo.
